Is eating healthier one of your new year’s resolutions?
If your new year’s resolution is to eat healthy then why not try swapping venison for your normal meat options.
There are several health benefits of eating venison:
Iron:
Venison not only has less fat and calories than other meat but it also has much higher iron content which is important for people who suffer from iron deficiency.
Protein:
Venison is rich in proteins (perfect for body builders). All meats do have proteins but one advantage with venison is that it is also lean unlike other red meat.
Vitamin B12:
Venison is a rich source of vitamin B12 which is important in keeping normal functions of the brain, nervous system and blood formation. Deficiency in this vitamin can lead to a condition known as pernicious anaemia.
Vitamin B6:
The vitamin B6 in venison is crucial in helping the body to convert carbohydrates, a function that is essential for a sustained release of blood sugar into the body.
Unsaturated fats:
Venison contains low, unsaturated fats just like nuts, fish and vegetable oil – so eating venison will give you the same health benefits as these.
All in all venison is one of the healthiest meat options available and if you are determined to get healthy inside and out for 2015 then make sure you add venison to your diet.
